Family Is...
— Dan Seefeldt —

Cozy days inside on a cold winter day, not feeling well, being pampered by your sisters, getting a new toy.

Family vacation at the lake, fishing, skiing, catching bullheads in cups, bringing your best friend and being proud that he’s having such a great time with your family.

Everyone home for a long hunting weekend, traipsing through sloughs, joking with dad, brother and brothers-in-law, warm house, special dinner and lots of playing cards later.

Getting married, remembering the warmth of the smiling faces of loved ones witnessing you making a commitment that will define the rest of your life.

Moving apartments on a sweltering hot holiday weekend, no one around to help, just the two of you, setting up a new home, excited for the future.

Waiting for that first child (or 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th, or 5th), wondering what they’ll be like, hoping that everything goes well and afterwards, being thankful that everything went well, being in awe of your wife’s courage, determination, and endurance and later wondering what life was like before you had this wonderful child.

Countless school programs, parent-teacher conferences, concerts and musicals. Holidays, coins in shoes, new toys, stockings, Easter eggs, fireworks, pumpkins, summers at the lake, vacations, games and singing, lots of singing.

New starts at college, buying all the gear needed to live away from home, helping with moves back and forth from dorm to home to dorm and back again. New apartments, setting up kitchens and beds and helping to make a home.

Everyone home for a long weekend, singing and playing games, special meals and playing with grandkids.

Love.
